Bagmati Province’s Capital Spending Remains Below 9% in First Half of Fiscal Year


Kathmandu, Jan 17 – The Bagmati provincial government has spent just 8.99 percent of its capital budget during the first six months of the current fiscal year 2082/83.

According to the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Planning, total provincial spending from Shrawan to Poush reached 14.10 percent of the annual budget, down 2.17 percentage points compared to the same period in fiscal year 2081/82, when 16.27 percent of the budget was utilized.

Of the current year’s Rs 67.4 billion budget, Rs 9.58 billion has been spent so far. Recurrent expenditure accounted for 22.48 percent, while capital expenditure remained at 8.99 percent, noted Keshab Bhandari, officer at the ministry. Among provincial offices, the Public Service Commission led spending at 36.35 percent, followed by the Office of the Chief Attorney at 30.80 percent and the Provincial Assembly Secretariat at 29.35 percent.
