Land Problem Resolution Commission Reactivates in Baitadi

January 4, Kathmandu: The district-level Land Problem Resolution Commission in Baitadi has resumed its activities following the Supreme Court’s annulment of the government decision to dissolve the commission.
Chairman of the District Committee, Ramesh Pandey, said operations restarted after the court verdict. A district committee meeting, attended by District Coordination Committee Chief Khagendra Singh Dhami and Chief District Officer Punya Bikram Paudel, resolved to seek updated details on landless Dalits, landless squatters, and unorganized settlers from local governments by February 8.
According to Binod Prasad Bhatt, Secretary of the Committee and Chief of the Survey Office, letters have been sent to all 10 local levels in the district requesting necessary information.
The municipalities have been instructed to enter applications collected from wards into the Commission’s system, form ward- and local-level facilitation committees, publish notices for claim objections, conduct verification and field investigations, and identify land eligible for distribution in line with existing regulations.
Local governments have also been asked to submit verified application lists and executive decisions related to landless Dalits, squatters, and unorganized settlers to the district committee.
