Road and Air Connectivity Key to Boosting Tourism in Pokhara: Minister Ghising
Kaski, Dec 28 — Minister for Energy Kulman Ghising has emphasized that strengthening both road and air connectivity is crucial for the long-term development of tourism in Pokhara.
Inaugurating the 27th edition of the Street Festival organized on the eve of New Year 2026, Minister Ghising said the government has prioritized the operation of international flights from Pokhara International Airport to enhance the city’s global tourism profile.
He stressed the need to extend the road network up to the Korola border point and to ensure regular international air services from Pokhara, noting that improved connectivity would significantly contribute to the growth of the local tourism industry.
Calling air connectivity a matter of national and geopolitical importance, Minister Ghising said the upcoming government must address the issue with top priority. “Operating an international airport in a major tourist destination like Pokhara will bring substantial benefits to tourism and the local economy,” he added.
Organized by the Restaurant and Bar Association of Nepal (REBAN) Pokhara, the Street Festival will run through December 31, featuring cultural programs, food stalls and various attractions for domestic and international visitors.
