Speaker Ghimire inaugurates NSSF 13th Kinder Olympics, Highlights Role of Sports in Nation-Building
Kathmandu, Dec 27: Speaker Devraj Ghimire has emphasized that children can play a significant role in the country’s development through sports.
Speaking at the inauguration of the NSSF 13th Kinder Olympics at Dasharath Stadium, Ghimire urged young participants to learn discipline and patience alongside their sporting skills, describing children as the nation’s future.
The event officially began with Ghimire handing over the Kinder Olympics torch to Olympian Kamal Bahadur Adhikari. Other Olympians, including athlete Santoshi Shrestha, taekwondo player Ayasha Shakya, and kabaddi player Manamati Bista, joined Adhikari in carrying the torch around the stadium track.
In the first phase of the event, 1,500 students aged three to five from 34 schools across Kathmandu Valley participated. Nepal School Sports Federation (NSSF) General Secretary Raj Kumar Karki said the second phase, running until December 30 at Dasharath Stadium, will see around 1,600 students from 67 schools nationwide compete.
Earlier, on December 19, President Ramchandra Paudel unveiled the mascot of the NSSF 13th Kinder Olympics and handed over the torch to NSSF President Shrestha.
