Firewood distributed at villages to avoid cold

Nepalgunj: Local levels in Banke district have distributed 15,000 cubic feet firewood to the locals to avoid cold.

The local levels purchased firewood from the Division Forest Office and distributed at various wards, according to Information officer at the Forest Office, Tanka Gurung.

The firewood was distributed to the villages of Nepalgunj sub-metropolis, Kohalpur municipality, Janaki rural municipality and Duduwa rural municipality.

In the wake of declining temperature, there is an increasing demand of firewood, shared Gurung.

A focal person for disaster in Nepalgunj sub-metropolis, Dipendra Shrestha, informed that some wards of the local level had, however, purchased firewood themselves and some municipalities sent request letters for the support.

Cold wave preparedness and response plan-2025 prepared by District Disaster Management Committee has forecast that 179,220 people from 35,572 households in the district would be affected from cold wave this year.
