‘Government committed to professional security and institutional development of online journalism’

Kathmandu: Minister for Communications and Information Technology Jagdish Kharel has stated that the government is committed to ensuring the professional security and institutional development of online television and online journalism.

During a discussion held today at the ministry with online television journalists, Minister Kharel said that the government is committed to providing online television platforms and the journalists working in them with the same state-provided facilities as those given to mainstream media.

Minister Kharel noted that the government does not even have accurate data on online television channels, online media, and the media professionals working in them in Nepal.

He said to put an end to this situation, the government will immediately begin the process of registration and listing of online television channels.
