President Paudel calls for innovative and ethical leadership

December 15, Kathmandu: President Ram Chandra Paudel has called on all stakeholders to sincerely uphold the responsibilities entrusted by the people and work collectively for national development, emphasising the need for innovative thinking, effective planning, strong resolve, and ethical leadership.

Addressing a program organised in Kathmandu on Monday to mark the 31st establishment day of Kathmandu Metropolitan City, President Paudel said politics should be understood not as a profession or business, but as a noble medium of public service. He noted that this is the primary expectation of the Nepali people today, adding that the aspirations expressed by the youth movement also reflect the same sentiment.

Stating that seeking the people’s mandate is the highest method of resolving national challenges in a democracy, President Paudel urged all concerned to ensure the success of the upcoming House of Representatives election scheduled for March 5, 2026. He called for collective participation in building a prosperous Nepal through social justice and good governance.

The President praised Kathmandu Metropolitan City for its performance as a local government, citing improvements in service delivery, urban management, environmental conservation, heritage preservation, and the effective use of information and communication technology. He said initiatives such as integrated service centers and grievance management systems have made the metropolis more transparent, accountable, and citizen-friendly.

Noting Kathmandu’s historical and political significance, President Paudel expressed confidence that its policies and practices would serve as a model for other local governments. He also stressed the need for cooperation from federal and provincial governments to effectively implement the capital city’s development plans.

The program was attended by Vice President Ram Sahaya Prasad Yadav and other senior officials.
