UAE humanitarian contribution and NTNC–UAE technical dialogue on water resilience

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has announced a USD 550 million contribution to the United Nations’ 2026 Global Humanitarian Response Plan, following the directives of President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. The contribution, acknowledged by relevant UN agencies, is part of the UAE’s continued support for coordinated international assistance efforts.
Separately, on Tuesday, the National Trust for Nature Conservation (NTNC), in collaboration with the Embassy of the United Arab Emirates in Kathmandu, held a technical dialogue on “Water Conservation and Innovation Amid Global Climate Challenges: Insights from the Mohamed bin Zayed Water Initiative” at Khumaltar in Lalitpur.
Addressing the dialogue, UAE Ambassador to Nepal, Abdulla Al Shamsi, noted that the UAE remains committed to supporting countries, including Nepal, in addressing the challenges posed by climate change.
The session brought together officials and experts to review current water-related challenges in Nepal and to exchange perspectives on innovation, drought preparedness, and nature-based approaches.
The discussion provided an opportunity to share experiences and explore areas where collaborative learning can support ongoing efforts to enhance water security and climate resilience.
