National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority reports high number of fire incidents in recent day
Urges public to remain cautious against fires
Kathmandu: The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA) has urged the public to remain alert as fire-related incidents continue to rise across the country.
According to the Authority, 18 disaster incidents were reported nationwide on November 8, of which 15 were fire-related. A day earlier, 19 disaster incidents had occurred, again with 15 fires. Significant damage to property was recorded in Makawanpur, Chitwan, Kaski and Kailali.
Two people were injured in these incidents, and losses have been estimated at Rs 5.37 million. The NDRRMA said several fires were caused by negligence, while others resulted from electrical short circuits.
Stating that repeated fire incidents are largely due to carelessness and low public awareness, the Authority has called on people to handle fires and flammable materials responsibly. It said that simple precautions can protect valuable physical assets and prevent avoidable damage.
