Election Commission registers 837,094 new voters

November 22, Kathmandu: The Election Commission has added 837,094 new names to the voter list opened after the announcement of the House of Representatives election on September 12.

The registration window closed at midnight on Thursday.

According to the Commission, 344,914 people registered through biometric enrollment, while 492,180 used their National ID. The National ID-based system was introduced later, but it received a strong response.

Prime Minister Sushila Karki wrote on social media that the deadline for voter registration has officially ended.

By November 2, a total of 18,168,023 citizens had reached the age of 18. The initial registration deadline was November 16, but it was extended until November 21 following high demand and requests from stakeholders.
