On Air Station:

President says Buddha’s teachings can build foundation for peace and prosperity

Kathmandu: President Ram Chandra Paudel has said that Buddha’s philosophy, based on peace, coexistence, the middle path, and compassion, can help guide the world towards stability, cooperation, and mutual trust.

Addressing the Diamond Jubilee of the Hiranya Varna Mahavihar in Nagwahal, Lalitpur, the President said that only by putting into practice Buddha’s message of non-violence, friendship, compassion, and wisdom can a strong foundation for sustainable peace and prosperity be built.

He said Buddha’s teachings are becoming increasingly relevant in today’s world, which is facing conflicts, selfishness, moral decline, intolerance, and weakening human values.

President Paudel added that Buddha’s teachings bring peace, happiness, and joy to humanity, and noted that it is a matter of pride for Nepal that Gautam Buddha, the symbol of peace, was born in the country.

He also stressed the importance of strengthening national unity by promoting tolerance and harmony among Nepal’s religious, social, and cultural diversity, while following the teachings of Buddha.

The President said the Four Noble Truths and the Noble Eightfold Path, as taught by Buddha, continue to guide humanity towards liberation from suffering.
