Nepal crowned champions after dominant win over Samoa
Kathmandu: Nepal has won the ICC T20 World Cup Asia and East Asia-Pacific Qualifier title, remaining unbeaten throughout the tournament.
Nepal defeated Samoa by 124 runs in the final match, securing victory in all games from the group stage through the Super Six to become champions on Friday.
Chasing a target of 212 runs at Oman Cricket Academy Ground 1 in Al Amerat, Oman, Samoa could only manage 87 runs with a loss of 7 wickets in 20 overs.
For Nepal, Lalit Rajbanshi took 3 wickets, while Karan KC, Sandeep Lamichhane, and Rohit Paudel took one wicket each.
Earlier, Nepal was invited to bat first after losing the toss and posted a total of 211 runs for the loss of 4 wickets in the allotted 20 overs. For Nepal, Aasif Sheikh top-scored with 69 runs.
Similarly, Asif Sheikh scored 69, Dipendra Singh Airee scored 53, Lokesh Bam remained unbeaten on 39, captain Rohit Kumar Paudel was not out on 21, and Kushal Bhurtel contributed 17 runs.
