Very heavy rainfall in Tarai, Rautahat records highest 289 millimetres rain

Kathmandu: Heavy to very heavy rainfall is now taking place at different places of the country.

Specially, very heavy rain is occurring in the districts of the Terai, according to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology. The highest 289 millimetres rain was recorded at Mahespur and 259 millimetres at Gaur of Rautahat in the last 24 hours, added the Department.

Likewise, Birgunj recorded 247 millimetres rainfall, Parsa 231 millimetres and Bara 222 millimetres. Information Officer of the Department, Dinakar Kayastha, said 134 millimeter rainfall was recorded in Makawanpur and 122 millimetres in Kavrepalanchowk.

Similarly, different districts including of Kathmandu Valley have recorded more than 50 millimetres rain. Ten rain gauge stations have so far recorded rainfall crossing the danger -level in Bara, Parsa and Rautahat districts.

According to Flood Forecasting Division of the Department, water level in Kavre-Roshi, Manohara-Kathmandu, Bagmati-Kathmandu, Lalbakaiya-Makawanpur has crossed warning level and is still on rising.

The Department has also requested all to adopt precautions as all most all different rivers and streams in Bagmati Province and Madhes Province have reached the warning level.
