Karate players winning medals in international competitions honored

Kathmandu: The Nepal Budokai-do Full Contact Karate Association has honored players who brought home medals from various international competitions.

Sagar Bishwakarma, Babita Karki, Rochak Bharati, Pooja Khadka, and Sudarshan Khatri, the winners at the World Budokai Martial Arts Championship held in Baku, Azerbaijan, as well as Karuna Raut, who was as a judge at the same competition were feted today.

Also honored were Sani Singh, who won a gold medal in the open weight category at the South Asian Full Contact Karate Championship held in Sri Lanka; Dawa Sherpa, who earned a bronze medal in the solo kata event at the Tezuka Cup Full Contact Karate Championship in Japan; and Kedarman Sthapit, who secured a gold medal in the men’s 76 kg (above 50 years) category at the 12th World Strength Lifting & Incline Bench Press Championship held in Thailand.

Surya Bahadur Budhathoki, the newly elected president of the Nepal Full Contact Karate Federation, was also felicitated on the occasion.
