Four new ministers to take oath of office today, Dr Mishra’s appointment withheld

September 22, Kathmandu: Prime Minister Sushila Karki has finalised the appointment of new cabinet ministers, with the swearing-in ceremony scheduled for 3 PM today at the President’s Office. The appointments were recommended to President Ramchandra Paudel yesterday, marking a significant reshuffle in the government to address pressing national priorities.

According to sources, Prime Minister Karki recommended Mahabir Pun, Madan Pariyar, Jagdish Kharel, and Anil Sinha for ministerial positions. The proposed portfolios are as follows: Mahabir Pun for the Ministry of Education and Science Technology, Madan Pariyar for the Ministry of Agriculture, Jagdish Kharel for the Ministry of Communications, and Anil Sinha for the Ministry of Industry. These appointments aim to bring expertise and fresh perspectives to critical sectors of Nepal’s governance.

However, controversy surrounds one of the recommendations. Dr Sangita Mishra, Additional Secretary at the Ministry of Health, was also proposed for a ministerial role. Sources indicate that due to ongoing controversies, her appointment is unlikely to proceed. The nature of the controversy remains undisclosed, but it has sparked discussions within political circles, with analysts suggesting it could involve bureaucratic or political disputes.
