Energy Minister and UK Ambassador discuss cooperation
September 23, Kathmandu: Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation, Physical Infrastructure and Transport, and Urban Development, Kulman Ghising, held a courtesy meeting with the UK Ambassador to Nepal, Rob Fenn, at the Ministry in Singha Durbar today.
Ambassador Fenn congratulated the newly appointed minister and wished him a successful tenure. The meeting focused on strengthening Nepal-UK relations, cooperation in the energy sector, potential infrastructure investments, and measures to address climate change challenges.
Minister Ghising highlighted the government’s priorities post-Gen Z Movement, including rebuilding damaged infrastructure, ensuring good governance, and preparing for elections. He praised the UK’s support for Nepal’s economic development, particularly in promoting electric vehicles through charging station initiatives.
Minister Ghising also sought collaboration in adopting the UK’s public-private partnership model, green hydrogen projects, and studying the risks of glacial lake outbursts. Ambassador Fenn reaffirmed the UK’s commitment to supporting Nepal’s economic transformation, emphasising the deep friendship between the two nations.
