DPM Paudel assures of adequate budget for construction of cricket stadium

Bhairahawa (Rupandehi), Aug 30: Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Paudel today observed the Siddhartha Cricket Stadium located in Bhairahawa.

Talking to journalists after observing the stadium, he said the government has prioritised the development of cricket and gave assurance that the government would ensure adequate budget for the construction of the stadium. He said, “You should enthusiastically engage in the development of sports. This stadium is an important sports infrastructure in Lumbini Province. Please work to complete the unfinished tasks here. There will be no paucity of budget.”

While providing information about the stadium, the president of Rupandehi Cricket Association, Hari Bahadur Thapa, suggested including it in the multi-year plan. He stated that although Siddhartha Stadium is of a high standard after Kathmandu, it is suffering from a lack of budget in proportion to that. In one and a half decades of its construction, only about 16 per cent of the stadium construction work has been completed. So far, around 120 million rupees have been spent.

Due to the limited budget, the construction could not be completed on time, complained Thapa.
