Mayor Shah emphasizes civility and decorum

Kathmandu: Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) Mayor Balendra Shah laid emphasis on effective collaboration and coordination between Metropolitan Police Force of the KMC and the State’s security agencies.

Addressing the 33rd anniversary of the KMC Police Force Day here today, Mayor Shah urged the 362-strong metropolitan police force to work actively to ensure effective enforcement of laws, rules and regulations. Shah commended the metropolitan police’s pivotal role in removing encroachments, protecting public properties and maintaining good-governance and order in the Metropolis.

Underscoring the importance of good conduct, the Mayor urged the metropolitan police to carry out their duty with civility and decorum.

Similarly, Deputy Mayor Sunita Dangol instructed the metropolitan police to work in the interest of public and KMC rather than individuals. She observed, “The metropolitan police, who are always with people in their joy, sorrow, festivals and fairs should works as a good representative of the KMC institution.’

AIG of Nepal Police, also Head of the Kathmandu Valley Police, Tek Bahadur Tamang expressed that the metropolitan police’s partnership with the Nepal Police in removing illegal infrastructures, obstructions and encroachment on the roadways was yielding good results.

Also speaking on the occasion, Metropolitan Police Force Chief Rajunath Pandey mentioned that the KMC police had been delivering on removal of unauthorized infrastructures, in disaster management and streamlining vehicles within the Metropolis. He further informed that metropolitan police’s works span across controlling smoking in public places, managing the stray animals on the road, managing sewage and monitoring market among others.

On the anniversary, the metropolitan police conducted cleaning drive in Swayambhunath Stupa area and Basantpur Durbar Area.They also planted saplings of various species of trees across the KMC.

On the occasion, Metropolitan Police Pride award was presented to SP Laxmi Maharjan and Best Metropolitan Police Award was conferred on Head Constable Bal Krishna Karki.

Likewise, Head Constables Bijaya Taman, Maniram Khanal and Philip Saru Magar were awarded with the Metropolitan Police Award. The Metropolitan Police Force was established on this day in 2050 BS.
