NBA unhappy with appointment of judges
Kathmandu: The Nepal Bar Association (NBA) has stated that it was not in a position to welcome the appointments of the judges by the Judicial Council until the amended regulations were scrapped.
Issuing a press statement on Friday, NBA General Secretary Kedar Prasad Koirala stated that the Bar’s attention was drawn to the appointments of 27 judges for the high court made by the Judicial Council on Thursday, adding that the decision of the Council will not be welcomed.
The NBA has requested that the amended regulations be scrapped immediately, citing them as discriminatory.
Likewise, the NBA has demanded that a transparent, objective, predictable, measurable, and inclusive proportionality principle be fully implemented for the appointments of judges.
The NBA has expressed its serious objection to the Council for ‘neglecting’ its concerns.
