Bajura jeep accident update: Injured airlifted by NA helicopter

 

Bajura, July 24: Thirteen people injured in a jeep accident at Kyudi village in the Himali rural municipality of Bajura district this morning were airlifted by the Nepali Army (NA)’s helicopter.

The jeep (Ba Pa 03-001 Ja 0338), carrying 19 passengers, was travelling from Kyudi village to Kawadi village in the Himali rural municipality when it veered off the gravel road and met with an accident. Dev Bahadur Chaudhari, Police Inspector at the District Police Office, Bajura, reported that two people died on the spot and one more died during the rescue operation carried out by security personnel.

The deceased were identified as Bijaura Rokaya, 76, and Baachkala Rokaya, 75, of Kyudi village. Another victim, 35-year-old Juneli Rokaya, succumbed to injuries while being rescued. Critically injured passengers were airlifted to the Provincial Hospital in Surkhet, said Shital Bahadur Rawal, Assistant Chief District Officer, Bajura.

Among those flown by the helicopter were Gauri Budham, 23, Baanchlal Rokaya, 35, Bhadauri Rokaya, 70, Baanchdhan Rokaya,22, and 45-year-old Bir Bahadur Rokaya. Rawal added that the injured passengers were also transported to the provincial hospital in the helicopter for further treatment, Rawal added.
