Congress leaders discuss constitution amendment
Kathmandu, July 21: Former office-bearers of the Nepali Congress have suggested that the amendment process of the Constitution should be moved forward for the successful implementation of the national statute.
A meeting of seven former office bearers of the party held today at the residence of Congress leader and Deputy Prime Minister and Urban Development Minister Prakash Man Singh in Chaksibari concluded. Former General Secretary Krishna Prasad Sitaula shared that the meeting discussed the need to move forward with the agreement on constitution amendment reached between the ruling Congress and the CPN (UML).
He said that the meeting also discussed the need for Congress to hold a debate to strengthen the federal democratic republic. Similarly, the meeting discussed the need for the government to work more effectively in favour of the people under the spirit of the alliance.
Deputy Prime Minister Singh, leaders Sitaula, Bimalendra Nidhi, Gopalman Shrestha, Bijay Kumar Gachhadar, Dr Shashank Koirala and Dr Prakash Sharan Mahat were present in the meeting.
