Lawmakers demand urgent action on floods, drought, and infrastructure issues in National Assembly

July 11, Kathmandu: In today’s National Assembly meeting, lawmakers raised concerns over the damage caused by floods and landslides across various parts of the country, including the destruction of the Friendship Bridge connecting Nepal and China.

They urged the government to take immediate action to address these issues.The lawmakers highlighted the growing problem of floods and landslides in several regions, while noting that Madhesh Province is facing a drought, which has severely impacted paddy plantation.

With the Madhesh Province government declaring a drought-affected status, the lawmakers demanded that the federal government provide necessary support and relief to the province.

Additionally, they drew attention to the recurring issue of road blockages on the Daunne and Bardaghat sections during the monsoon season, pressing the government to find a permanent solution to this problem.

The lawmakers also called for an investigation into allegations of bribery at the Office of the Company Registrar and irregularities under the pretext of system downtime, urging the government to address and resolve these issues promptly.
