Nepal clinches ACC Men’s U-16 East Zone Cup, defeats Singapore by 2 wickets
Kathmandu: Nepal has secured the title of the ACC Men’s U-16 East Zone Cup, defeating Singapore by two wickets in the final held in Malaysia.
Chasing a modest target of 114 runs, Nepal reached the mark in 29 overs, losing eight wickets. Earlier, Nepal had bowled out Singapore for just 113 runs in 40.5 overs at the YSD UKM Oval in Bangi.
Singapore’s captain Riaan Naik had won the toss and opted to bat first, but the team struggled against disciplined Nepali bowling. Sushil Bahadur Rawal and Abhaya Yadav picked up three wickets each, while Shubham Khanal took two and Bipin Prasad Sharma claimed one.
In the run chase, Joy Thapa top-scored for Nepal with 24 runs, followed by Shiwansh Bajgain with 20. With this win, Nepal successfully defended the title, having also won the previous edition of the tournament.
