AFC Women’s Asian Cup: Nepal secures 8-0 victory over Sri Lanka
Kathmandu, July 2: Nepal made their second consecutive win today in the AFC Women’s Asian Cup Qualifiers with a hat-trick from the Captain of the National Women’s Football Team, Sabitra Bhandari (Samba).
In the match held at Milliy Stadium located in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, Nepal made an astounding 8-0 victory against Sri Lanka. With this victory, Nepal collected six points in two matches. Earlier, Nepal had defeated Laos with a 9-0 goal difference in the first match.
Sambha scored a hat trick while Gita Rana scored two goals, and Nisha Thokar, Rekha Poudel, and Puja Rana scored one goal each for Nepal’s win. Nepal scored the first goal in the seventh minute of the match, the second in the 20th minute, the third in the 42nd minute, the fourth in additional time of the first half, the fifth 53rd minute, the sixth in the 62nd minute, seventh in 78th minute and eighth goal in 89th minute.
Nepal will be playing its group-wise final match with Uzbekistan on Saturday.
