Monsoon fully active across the country starting today
June 20, Kathmandu: The monsoon system has officially spread across the country starting today. According to the Meteorological Forecasting Division, this expansion occurred 23 days after the monsoon initially entered Nepal.
This year’s monsoon first made its way into the eastern part of the country on May 29 and subsequently affected most areas of Koshi Province. By June 12, the monsoon system had also reached parts of Madhes, Bagmati, Gandaki provinces, and some eastern regions of Lumbini Province.
Meteorologist Pratima Manandhar stated that with the current spread of the monsoon system to Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim provinces, the monsoon is now active throughout the entire country.
“At present, the monsoon winds are influencing some areas of Koshi, Madhes, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces, as well as the eastern part of Lumbini Province. Additionally, there is partial influence from westerly and local winds in the western part of the country,” she explained. She also noted the impact of a low-pressure area formed around West Bengal, India.
