On Air Station:

Children should get affable life, PM Oli says

Kathmandu: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has said that children should not be forced to live in the streets; rather, they should be able to enjoy an affable life.

At a programme organised by the National Child Protection Alliance (NCPA) on Thursday on the occasion of the World Day against Child Labour, the Prime Minister said, “I cannot hear and see the sufferings of the children. That hurts me. I want them always smiling.”

The Prime Minister stated that, unlike the past feudal system, the Prime Minister now hears the children’s voices as they share their issues along with their demand for rights.

Prime Minister Oli reiterated that none of our children should be forced to remain on the streets or indulge in child labour. They should have a chance at a friendly life.

Likewise, he said that our efforts for broader welfare of the children will continue along with the entire nation’s socio-economic transformation.

Saying that he has never punished or misbehaved with the children, the Prime Minister made it clear that he wants children in a jolly mood.

On the occasion, the Prime Minister also shared that he has taken guardianship of children from different parts of the country and added that the government was working to bring about positive changes to the socio-economic status of the country.

Prime Minister Oli also said that children forced for child labour should be provided with a good environment by taking them out from child labour.

The First Lady, Radhika Shakya, also attended the event.
