Opposition parties allow govt. to present Economic Survey

Kathmandu, May 29: Opposition parties including the CPN (Maoist Centre) have decided to allow the government to present the economic survey and budget for coming fiscal year in the Parliament today.

The opposition parties, which had been obstructing the proceedings of the House of Representatives demanding resignation of Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak over the visit visa scandal, agreed to allow today’s House meeting.

Soon after the commencement of today’s meeting of the House of Representatives, lawmakers of the opposition parties stood up at their respective seats. After the protest, Speaker Devraj Ghimire allocated time for Chief Whip of CPN (Maoist Centre), Hitraj Pandey, to speak.

Stating that they have allowed the government to present the Economic Survey and budget for coming fiscal year, he added they however would obstruct the House continuously until the demand is addressed.

Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Paudel is presenting the Economic Survey in the meeting.

A programme is scheduled to present the budget for the coming fiscal year in the joint meeting of the Federal Parliament at 3:00 pm today.
