‘Nature-based solution for sustainable conservation’: Minister Shahi
Kathmandu, May 22: Minister for Forest and Environment, Ain Bahadur Shahi Thakuri, has said nature-based solutions were imperative to the sustainable conservation of nature.
Minister Shahi said it during the 13th council meeting of the International Bamboo and Rattan Organisation (INBAR) in Beijing, China, on Thursday. The minister also presided over the council meeting. On the occasion, the minister underlined the need for the transformative use of bamboo, cane and rattan to address the green economy, reduce climate change impacts, and foster sustainable biodiversity, according to the Nepali Embassy in China.
The exchange of knowledge and expertise among the member countries would help ensure global sustainable practices. He extended thanks to the Chinese government, all member states and the INBAR secretariat. Minister Shahi also welcomed Uruguay and the Dominican Republic as new members.
Nepali Ambassador to China, Krishna Prasad Oli, shed light on the importance of various species of bamboo and canes found in Nepal.
