Foreign Affairs Minister Dr. Rana and JICA President hold meeting on strengthening Nepal-Japan relations

Tokyo: Foreign Affairs Minister Dr. Arzu Rana Deuba held a meeting with Dr. Tanaka Akihiko, President of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), at the agency’s headquarters in Tokyo.

The discussions centered on deepening Nepal-Japan bilateral relations and advancing areas of mutual interest.

Foreign Affaris Minister Dr. Rana conveyed Nepal’s appreciation for the long-standing support extended by the Government of Japan through JICA, particularly in economic development, social welfare, and other critical sectors.

She highlighted JICA’s valuable contributions under its Basic Assistance Policy.

Minister Dr. Rana also acknowledged Japan’s recent support through JICA for major infrastructure projects in Nepal, including the construction of the Nagdhunga Tunnel and the reconstruction and maintenance of the Sindhuli-Bardibas Road.

They also discussed broader topics of cooperation, including the ongoing impact of climate change, disaster management strategies, good governance, and the welfare of senior citizens.

The meeting underscored the continued commitment of both Nepal and Japan to fostering a robust and multifaceted partnership.
