Dr. Bishwanath Poudel assumes office as Nepal Rastra Bank Governor

Kathmandu: Dr. Bishwanath Poudel has officially taken office as the new Governor of Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) after being sworn in by Chief Justice Prakash Man Singh Raut.

The oath of office and secrecy was administered during a ceremony held at the Supreme Court earlier today.

Dr. Poudel, a seasoned economist, was appointed by the government following a cabinet meeting held yesterday.

His appointment came upon the recommendation of a three-member selection committee led by Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Paudel.

With extensive experience in economic and monetary affairs, Dr. Poudel is expected to play a key role in steering Nepal’s central banking institution, particularly amid ongoing challenges in the national economy and financial sector.
