UAE team joins Sagarmatha Sambaad 2025 to strengthen Nepal’s climate efforts

May 16, Kathmandu: A UAE delegation, including Abdulla Ahmed Balalaa, Assistant Minister for Energy and Sustainability, and Ahmed bin Abdulrahman Al Ghardaqa, President of the Arab Youth Council for Climate Change, is in Nepal for the global climate forum Sagarmatha Sambad 2025.
Invited by Prime Minister K.P. Sharma Oli, the team met with Nepali leaders like Foreign Minister Arzu Rana Deuba, the Minister of Forests and Environment, and the Minister of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation.
The talks focused on boosting Nepal-UAE teamwork in fighting climate change, promoting renewable energy, managing water resources, and supporting economic growth that benefits all. The UAE group also held discussions with Abdullah Muksit, a representative from the UN’s climate body (UNFCCC) and IPCC, to align on global climate goals.
Balalaa highlighted the UAE’s eagerness to work closely with Nepal on sustainability and building a stronger future. This visit marks a key step in Nepal-UAE relations, emphasising youth-driven solutions and long-term efforts to tackle environmental challenges for a greener Nepal.
