Govt. approves 3rd Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC-3) under UNFCCC
Kathmandu, May 15: The Government has approved the third Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC-3) climate action plan and decided to send its report to the Secretariat of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).
Making public the decision of the Cabinet meeting held on April 29 the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology today, Minister for Communications and Information Technology Prithvi Subba Gurung said the government also decided to approve the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Government of Nepal and the Government of India on Biodiversity Conservation and to authorize the Ministry of Forests and Environment to sign the MoU by coordinating with the counterparts.
Minister Gurung, who is also the government spokesperson, also said that the appointment of the Governor of Nepal Rastra Bank will take place within a few days.
The Cabinet meeting has reconstituted the recommendation committee led by Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Poudel and to include former Governor Maha Prasad Adhikari and Dr Poshraj Pandey as members.
Similarly, the cabinet has decided to form a high-level restructuring committee under the coordination of Prof Govinda Raj Pokharel with Prof Ishwori Kadariya and Dr Yagya Gajadhar Khadka to restructure the Nepal Agricultural Research Council.
The government has also decided to lease out the Damak View Tower (Damak Business Complex) in Jhapa and upgrade the 15-bed Jogbudha Hospital under the Parshuram Municipality of Dadeldhura to 50 beds and handed over to the Sudurpaschim Province Government for its operation.
Similarly, Minister Gurung also made public the decisions of the Cabinet meeting held on May 8. The meeting decided to declare Bhimdatta Municipality-11, 12 and 13 of Kanchanpur, and Dodhara Chandani Municipality-3, 8, 9 and 10 as disaster-affected areas for a period of three months due to the danger posed by the Mahakali River and the risk of inundation in the upcoming monsoon.
The cabinet decided to expand the scope of work of the Central Project Implementation Unit under the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology to construct educational infrastructure damaged by earthquakes and other natural disasters and to carry out the construction, reconstruction and retrofitting of physical infrastructure of public schools across the country.
Prior approval has been granted to Dordi Rural Municipality of Lamjung to establish sister relations with Fugong County in Yunnan Province of the People’s Republic of China.
