‘Adopt transparency in picking officials at transitional justice mechanism’
Kathmandu: The conflict victims have urged the Prime Minister to adopt transparency in the selection process of the officials at the transitional justice mechanism- the Truth and Reconciliation Commission, and the Commission for Investigation of the Enforced Disappeared Persons.
As many as 39 organisations, including the Conflict Victims Women’s National Network, the National Network of the Victims of Serious Human Rights Violations and the Platforms of Conflict Victims, demanded that Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli ensure transparency and credibility in the nomination of chairs and members in the two commissions.
Chairman of the National Network of the Victims of Serious Human Rights Violation, Ram Kumar Bhandari, shared the information that PM Oli had received a letter from three dozen organisations, drawing his attention towards fair nomination of officials at the transitional justice mechanism.
