Sagarmatha Sambaad to serve as forum to seek global attention to Nepal’s climate crisis: Minister
Kathmandu: Minister for Forest and Environment, Ain Bahadur Shahi Thakuri, has said the Sagarmatha Sambaad will be utilised as a forum to draw global attention to climate impacts and consequences that Nepal is facing.
Nepal is hosting the Sagarmatha Sambaad, a multi-stakeholder dialogue, under the theme of “Climate Change, Mountains and the Future of Humanity” on May 16-18.
While receiving a report about a programme themed on climate change held recently in Thame of Solukhumbu by an organisation named SathSathai here on Tuesday, the Minister expressed his commitment to incorporate the findings of the report into discussions during the Sagarmatha Sambaad.
He also highlighted the significance of the field-based report to reflect the facts surrounding the devastating Thame flood, which occurred in the Solukhumbu district on August 16, 2024.
