PMO to be developed as Center of Excellence
Kathmandu: The government’s policy and programme document has stated that the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers will be developed as a Centre of Excellence to make public service and development administration more effective and result-oriented.
According to the government’s policy and programmes for the fiscal year 2025/26 presented by President Ramchandra Paudel on Friday, the performance-based evaluation will be integrated into career development. “Result-oriented monitoring of all development projects will be conducted. The performance of monitoring agencies will be monitored by the Office of the Prime Minister and the Council of Ministers.”
Likewise, the reform measures as directed by the High-Level Governance Reform Commission, formed under the chair of the Prime Minister, will be carried out gradually to ensure good governance and effective administration, it said.
Similarly, the document states to activate the e-Governance Board for simplification of the decision-making process and transformation of services through the use of technology.
The document mentioned that a Rapid Response Team will be mobilized for prompt address of the complaints lodged in the Hello Sarkar portal.
Similarly, the government has announced the functioning of the agencies under the Office of the Prime Minister and the Council of Ministers to make transparent, systematic and technology-friendly. The role of these agencies in preventing smuggling, corruption and abuse of national properties will be further strengthened, the President unveiled.
The government has stated that transparency and accountability in the economic and financial system will be strengthened. The process of confiscating illicit assets and bringing them under state ownership will be continued.
“The country will be upgraded to the international level of full anti-money laundering compliant country by the year 2083 B.S. by completing the tasks according to the National Strategy and Action Plan on Anti-Money Laundering and Combating the Financing for Terrorism,” it is stated.
Likewise, an announcement is made to develop the National Planning Commission as a competent institution to coordinate periodic plans of federal, provincial and local governments, and to monitor and evaluate development projects.
The Investment Board of Nepal will be mobilized to promote foreign investment for industrial and infrastructure projects.
As stated in the document, the policy and programme for the fiscal year 2082/83 B.S. will realize the dream of ‘Prosperous Nepal, Happy Nepali’ through the effective implementation of the directive principles, Policies and Obligations of the state as mentioned in the Constitution.
