Sudurpaschim Province deserves transformative projects

 

Kathmandu, April 27: In the wake of poor human development indices in the region, the launch of transformative projects along with an adequate budget has been emphasized in Sudurpaschim Province.

Speakers at a program said it during an interaction on the federal budget, 2082/83 and priorities of Sudurpaschim Province. The event was organized by the Policy and Planning Commission of Sudurpaschim Province in the federal capital.

Chief Minister Kamal Bahadur Shah said federal lawmakers representing Sudurpaschim Province could play significant roles in securing national pride projects that transform the region. Unity among all political parties is imperative to this end, he stressed.

Vice Chairman of the Province Commission, Dr Jivan Rana, also suggested that the federal lawmakers pay heed to make the forthcoming budget policy and programs effective so that it also focuses on provincial development and prosperity.

Modernization of agriculture, commercialization, tourism development, energy, transport, communications, housing, drinking water, irrigation and health were major focus of the Sudurpaschim Province, he reminded. On the occasion, Foreign Minister Dr. Arzu Rana Deuba said the forthcoming budget and programs should stress how the human development indexes could be improved in the far west of Nepal.

Rather than a scattered budget, it could concentrate on the backward community, she suggested. According to her, agriculture, tourism and infrastructure could be the priorities of this province. Minister for Industry, Commerce and Supply, Damodar Bhandari, vowed support to secure the projects capable of uplifting the status of Sudurpaschim Province.
