Home Minister for building emergency godown at local level
Kathmandu: Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak has said that the emergency godowns should be built at the local level for disaster risk reduction and response.
At a programme on Disaster Dialogue with the Home Minister on Sunday, the Home Minister said that the local governments should be made effective since they are the ones to work closely in the time of natural disasters. He added that the local governments are to implement the policies, and they should be made efficient by constructing warehouses.
Lekhak viewed that each local level should develop an emergency warehouse and store the basic goods there. The Home Minister stated that the local levels should not build a separate house for this purpose but should allocate a separate space in their existing office building.
The federal and provincial governments should extend support for these efforts, but the base should be the local government, Minister Lekhak.
