Radio Nepal should be ‘voice of voiceless’: President Paudel

Kathmandu: President Ramchandra Paudel has called on Radio Nepal, transformed into Public Service Broadcasting this year, to become ‘the voice of the voiceless’ and active in the path of institutionalizing the federal democratic republic system adopted by the country.

In a message of best wishes today on the 75th anniversary of Radio Nepal, President Paudel asked Radio Nepal to ensure people’s right to information as well as to work effectively as per the sentiments and objectives of public service broadcasting.

Requesting to carry out activities to strengthen democracy based on pluralism, he said the development of the internet and information technology has brought significant change in the content of news and the dissemination of factual information.

“Radio Nepal has made a significant contribution to the preservation and promotion of the inclusive character of Nepali society by broadcasting news in 25 languages and programmes in 24 languages’, reads the message.

“I believe that media including Radio Nepal will work in a more responsible, accountable and trustworthy manner in their services, quality and news presentation using capable human resources and modern technology at maximum”, shared President Paudel.
