Kasthamandap Dialogue Series I explores Nepal-China BRI prospects
March 15, Kathmandu: The inaugural Series I of the Kasthamandap Dialogue, titled “The BRI Meets Nepal: A Prosperous Future of Nepal-China Cooperation,” organised by the Foundation for Peace, Development and Socialism was successfully convened on Saturday in Kathmandu.
The event was attended by House Speaker Dev Raj Ghimire, former Prime Minister Jhala Nath Khanal, and Chinese Ambassador Chen Song, among other dignitaries.
Addressing the event, Speaker Ghimire expressed Nepal’s pride in China’s progress as a close neighbor and its desire to benefit from China’s development through economic partnerships, appreciating China’s support for Nepal’s goal to graduate from least developed nation status by 2026.
He highlighted the strengthening Nepal-China ties under the BRI, viewing it as an opportunity for infrastructure growth and economic advancement, while reaffirming Nepal’s commitment to the One China principle and gratitude for China’s reliable development support.
Chinese Ambassador to Nepal, Chen Song, shared facts, figures, and views on why BRI matters to Nepal, expressing China’s commitment to Nepal’s prosperity.
