UML’s whip to support CM Shah in trust motion

Sudurpaschim: The CPN (UML) Parliamentary Party, Sudurpaschim Province Assembly, on Wednesday issued a whip to its members to cast a vote in favour of Chief Minister Kamal Bahadur Shah of the Nepali Congress.

Chief Minister Shah is presenting a proposal, seeking a vote of confidence in the provincial assembly meeting scheduled for Thursday.

Chief Whip of the CPN (UML), Chakra Bahadur Malla, shared that the parliamentary party meeting held at the Parliamentary Party Office, Dhangadhi, issued the whip to its members for their mandatory presence in the provincial assembly meeting taking place on Thursday and to cast a vote in favour of the motion of trust.

Chief Minister Shah is going to seek a vote of confidence from the provincial assembly after the Nagarik Unmukti Party withdrew its support from the government on July 4.

As per the constitutional provision of facing motion of trust within 30 days, CM Shah has to seek vote of confidence within August 2. Though the Nagarik Unmukti Party withdrew its support from the government, there is majority of the Nepali Congress and CPN (UML) in the province assembly.

The parliamentary party meeting of the Nagarik Unmukti Party decided to withdraw its support to the Chief Minister after Nagarik Unmukti Party’s Minister Rameshwor Chaudhary was relieved from the post.

The 53-member Sudurpaschim Province Assembly has 18 members from the NC, 11 from the CPN (UML), 11 from CPN (Maoist Centre), seven from Nagarik Unmukti Party, four from CPN (Unified Socialist-one suspended), one from Rastriya Prajatantra Party and one is an independent member.
