Saudi Arabia to host 10th Asian Winter Games NEOM 2029
February 17, Kathmandu: The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) has officially been announced as the host of the 10th Asian Winter Games NEOM 2029, becoming the first country in West Asia to organize this prestigious continental sporting event.
The announcement was made during the closing ceremony of the 9th Asian Winter Games, held at the Harbin International Conference Exhibition and Sports Center in China on Friday, according to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).
The Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) flag was handed over to Saudi Arabia, symbolizing the official transfer of hosting responsibilities. Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki bin Faisal, Saudi Minister of Sport, President of the Saudi Olympic and Paralympic Committee, and Head of the Saudi Delegation, received the flag from OCA Vice President Timothy Fok. The ceremony was attended by Chinese Premier Li Qiang, officials and representatives from 45 Asian nations, and prominent global sports figures.
This milestone underscores Saudi Arabia’s growing role in the global sports arena and its commitment to advancing winter sports in the region. The 10th Asian Winter Games will be held in NEOM, the Kingdom’s futuristic city, further highlighting its vision for innovation and development.
