Drinking water pipe burst due to lack of coordination with NEA: Minister Yadav
Kathmandu: Minister for Water Supply Pradeep Yadav has said that the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) did not coordinate with the Ministry and other agencies concerned, which led to the drinking water supply pipe burst in Babarmahal.
Minister Yadav reached the area to inspect the water-logging after the supply pipe of the bulk distribution system of drinking water in Babarmahal burst while the NEA was digging to lay electric wires underground.
Briefly talking to the media persons on the occasion, Minister Yadav said the NEA used to coordinate with us every other time but not this time and as a result the pipe burst happened.
“We will repair the damaged pipelines soon and resume water supply,” he said.
Meanwhile, Chief of Kathmandu Valley Drinking Water Project Implementation Directorate, Tika Bahadur Chaudhury, said that the service will be operated by repairing the pipe after the water flow stops.
Government buildings, including the special court in Babarmahal, were flooded after the pipe burst. It also led to traffic jam on the road.
