Gandaki government’s support benefits hundreds of cancer survivors

Gandaki, Feb 12: A total of 733 people have benefited from the cancer treatment aid program of the Gandaki Province government.

The provincial government has provided aid worth over Rs 23.5 million for cancer treatment.

According to Health Minister Krishna Prasad Pathak, the provincial government has signed agreements with Bir Hospital Kathmandu, Patan Academy of Health Sciences, Bhaktapur Cancer Hospital, Civil Servants Hospital, and BP Koirala Memorial Cancer Hospital Chitwan to expand the cancer treatment support program.

Additionally, blood has been provided free of cost in coordination with the Nepal Red Cross, while laboratory tests for individuals under 10 years and above 60 years of age have also been made free of charge.

The provincial government also provides free treatment for women with uterine prolapse at provincial-level hospitals. Dialysis services have also been made free for kidney patients.

A total of 804 patients are receiving services from 15 government and private health facilities.

The Ministry of Health has also launched a program to screen for non-communicable diseases at the community level.

Minister Pathak stated that screening has begun in collaboration with local governments to diagnose non-communicable diseases, including high blood pressure, diabetes, obesity, and cancer.
