Karnali faces short supply of schoolteachers

 

Surkhet, Feb 4: Karnali Province is reeling under a short supply of school teachers—over 5,000 teachers’ quotas left unfulfilled for a long.

 

As many as 5,549 posts of teachers for various levels are lying vacant, according to Balbir Sunar, senior education officer at the Ministry of Social Development in the province. In 2,931 community schools in Karnali, the teachers working in allocated seats are 11,865, while the number of schoolteachers as per the allotted quota is 17,384.

 

As many as 605 secondary schools need 1,749 teachers. Similarly, 1,140 basic schools are running classes despite the shortage of 2,699 teachers. The number of higher secondary schools running classes despite teacher shortage stands at 259.

 

They need 457 more teachers to meet the allocated quota and run classes smoothly. Officer Sunar further informed that the subject teachers of English, math, and science count much among the needed ones. —RSS
