Education policy needs change: Minister Gurung

 

Bhaktapur, Jan 26: Minister for Communications and Information Technology, Prithvi Subba Gurung, has said present education policy needs immediate change.

 

Inaugurating the Sports Meet-2025 organized by the SOS School here Sunday, Minister Gurung underlined the need to change education policy to make it employment-oriented. “The country witnessed a change in system and politics, but education policy did not.

 

The Education Policy of 2028BS still exists, which, however, fails to provide guidelines to meet present needs,” he reminded, stressing that education that caters to adequate skills is an urgent need. The minister also informed that the Cabinet had endorsed the amendment of the Education Act to table in the parliament for deliberation.

 

According to him, inclusive and quality education caters to the needs of the modern generation and competes with others. Nepal should also embrace technological development like artificial intelligence (AI). AI can be leveraged in different sectors like education, health, and agriculture, according to the minister.

 

The present-day students can earn a lot with the use of IT. —RSS
