Nepal’s leadership expresses optimism about advancing bilateral relations with Trump administration
January 21, Kathmandu: Donald J. Trump was sworn in as the 47th President of the United States on Monday. US President Trump’s inauguration drew global attention, with leaders from around the world including Nepal extending their congratulations.
President Ramchandra Paudel extended his warm felicitations to US President Trump on social media, wishing him a successful tenure. He expressed hope that the cordial relations between Nepal and the United States would further deepen in the coming days.
Likewise, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli also congratulated President Trump via X, highlighting the over 75 years of friendly relations between Nepal and the United States. He conveyed his readiness to strengthen the partnership between the two countries and wished President Trump a successful tenure.
Similarly, Vice President Ram Sahaya Prasad Yadav sent his best wishes to U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance through a social media post. He expressed hope for further strengthening of cooperative relations between Nepal and the United States during Vice President Vance’s tenure.
Meanwhile, Foreign Affairs Minister Dr Arzu Rana Deuba congratulated Marco Rubio on his appointment as the 72nd U.S. Secretary of State. In a message shared on X, she expressed her eagerness to work with Secretary Rubio to enhance Nepal-U.S. relations. Secretary Rubio, a Senator from Florida, was confirmed with a unanimous Senate vote.
