Serving destitute people is a noble task: Minister Gurung
Lamjung, Jan 18: Minister for Communications and Information Technology Prithvi Subba Gurung said that there is no other religion than the service to humankind.
During a program organized to hand over the donation from Ncell for the construction of a building for Manav Sewa Ashram at Bensisahar Municipality-7 in Lamjung district on Saturday, Minister Gurung commended the services provided to the helpless people by the Manav Sewa Ashram. Serving destitute people is a noble task, Minister Gurung stated while urging everyone to get ready to serve people in need.
On the occasion, Minister Gurung recalled his decisions taken to support building shelter homes in four places, including Lamjung, Kaski, and Gorkha, during his term as the Chief Minister of Gandaki Province in the past and also vowed to support them in the coming days as well. Minister Gurung stated that Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli is also closely watching the jobs of Manav Sewa Ashram and urged one and all to extend their support for this institution.
“The Prime Minister and his spouse are patrons of this (Manav Sewa Ashram). So, we all have our concerns about the activities of the Ashram,” Minister Gurung added. Minister Gurung also made an inspection visit to the building of the Ashram on Saturday itself and expressed his commitment to providing support for building construction.
During the event, a representative of Ncell Dilliram Shrestha said the company has provided Rs 1 million for the building construction of this organization as part of the corporate social responsibility of Ncell. The coordinator of the Ashram, Anita Adhikari, said that different organizations and the province and local governments have extended their support to build the building for the Ashram.
Currently, 24 individuals are taking shelter in the Ashram in Lamjung. —RSS
