Petroleum and natural gas exploration in Dailekh nears completion
Kathmandu: The ongoing petroleum and natural gas exploration in Dailekh is in its final stages.
The Department of Mines and Geology reports that only 49 meters of drilling remain out of the 4,000 meters planned for the project.
Drilling has been taking place in the Jaljale area of Bhairavi Rural Municipality-1 since May 10 of last year. The project is funded by a Rs 2.5 billion grant from the Chinese government, and the Department anticipates completing the drilling within the next week.
Dr. Ganesh Nath Tripathi, Senior Geologist for the Petroleum Exploration Project at the Department of Mines & Geology, confirmed that based on current progress, possibilities of natural gas reserves have been expected.
