Expansion and upgrading of roads in Bhojpur boosts market access for local produce
January 1, Kathmandu: Local agricultural producers in the Bhojpur district have improved access to markets due to expanded and upgraded rural roads. The 42-km blacktopped road from Deuralichowk to Chakhewa Bhanjyang provides a direct route to Kathmandu through Khotang district. This development allows farmers to sell their fruits and vegetables not just locally, but also in cities like Kathmandu, Dharan, and Biratnagar.
Traders are now directly purchasing products such as rice and maize from farmers, as noted by Santosh Bista from Temkemaiyung-5. Additionally, the construction of a concrete bridge over the Arun River has enhanced connectivity between Bhojpur and Dhankuta, further supporting local trade. The blacktopping of the 66-km Bhojpur-Leguwa road has also contributed to the growth of commerce in the area.
