FNJ-RSS transfers leadership to new executive committee
Kathmandu, Dec 27: The Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ) at Rastriya Samachar Samiti (RSS) has handed the leadership to a newly elected working committee.
FNJ RSS Election Committee coordinator Raju Shakya handed certificates to the office-bearers and members of the new committee chaired by Krishna Sapkota amidst a program held at the RSS Central Office in Bhadrakali on Thursday. Similarly, FNJ-RSS erstwhile Chair Pabitra Guragain handed the responsibility of the FNJ RSS to new Chair Sapkota.
On the occasion, former Central Chair of FNJ and RSS Executive Chair Dharmendra Jha congratulated the new leadership, expressing his hope that the new working committee would deliver constructively, proving its effective presence in the strengthening of professional and decent journalism.
RSS General Manager Siddha Raj Rai thought that the FNJ RSS body should have its contribution to the improvement of the rights of working journalists along with the strengthening of RSS. FNJ Corporate Province’s outgoing chair, Balkrishna Adhikari, urged the FNJ RSS chapter to play a role in building the image of FNJ, promoting professional dignity, and the overall development of journalists.
Moreover, FNJ RSS outgoing Chair Guragain said she felt immense pleasure at getting an opportunity for a successful handover of leadership. Newly elected Chair Sapkota pledged to work for the promotion of professional journalism and the improvement of working journalists’ rights in coordination with the RSS seniors and RSS management.
FNJ RSS former Chair Suryachandra Basnet and election committee coordinator Raju Shakya urged the new leadership to deliver further constructive works, giving continuity to past positive efforts. FNJ Central General Secretary Ram Prasad Dahal promised to encourage the RSS chapter in terms of protecting the rights of working journalists and taking the FNJ image to a new height.
The 11-member FNJ RSS new leadership was elected unopposed on December 13. It comprises Purna Prasad Mishra (vice chair), Abhilasa Pokharel (vice chairwoman), Chet Bahadur Adhikari (secretary), Kumari Kamala Paudel (joint secretary), Gita Parajuli (joint secretary-inclusive), and Nabin Paudel (treasurer).
Likewise, Srijana Rai Thapa, Reshama Shakya, Pramod Karki, and Rosha Basnet are the members, and Prakash Silwal and Chhabilal Kumal are the council members elected by the December 13 election. —RSS
